April ’25 Round-Up: Winners and New Arrivals

April proved to be another rewarding month, with success on the racecourse matched by some exciting new acquisitions from the sales ring.

On the Track
Our purchases continued to deliver, with several finding the winner’s enclosure:

  • Caballo De Mar enjoyed a fruitful month, landing both the Class 4 Handicap over 1m6f at Southwell and stepping up to claim the Class 2 Handicap over 2m at the same track, he looks a hugely exciting and progressive horse for the rest of the season.
  • Rogue Bullet opened his account with victory in the Class 5 Restricted Novice at Brighton having been placed very cleverly by his trainer Jack Jones.
  • Rogue Impact made a strong impression when taking the Class 5 Maiden Stakes at Lingfield, the colt by Study Of Man was purchased from the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale in 2023 for 70,000gns. He’s another horse who looks as though he’s going to have a big future in the staying division in the future.
  • Sixtygeesbaby proved too sharp in the Class 5 Novice Stakes at Doncaster getting his season off to a good start. In addition, Rogue Lightning ran with credit to finish second in a Grade 2 at Keeneland over 5f on unsuitably soft going.

In the Sales Ring
April also brought opportunities to strengthen future prospects. Highlights included:

  • At the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale, we secured:
    • A striking Pinatubo x Dutch Treat filly (150,000GNS) for a partnership including long standing clients Keith Breen and Michael Blencowe to go into training with  George Scott.
    • A sharp-looking Mehmas colt out of Lyons Lane (200,000GNS) for Opulence Thoroughbreds to go into training with Andrew Balding. We had a lot of success from the Breeze ups with Opulence Thoroughbreds in 2024 when purchasing Addisson Grey and Marchogian, we hope this horse can be as good.
    • A well-bred Showcasing x Zeyran colt (40,000GNS) for local Newmarket man John Thompson to go into training with George Scott.
  • At the Tattersalls Guineas Horses in Training Sale, we purchased Luan (18,000GNS), a son of Sea The Stars out of Lamoraye, for Hasmonean Racing with James Ferguson.
  • At the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale, we added:
    • A Kodi Bear x Dikta Del Mar colt (40,000GNS) with Tom Clover.
    • A Starman x Nurse Dee colt (55,000GNS) also with Tom Clover.

Looking Ahead
With winners already delivering on the track and a strong group of new recruits heading into training, April has laid excellent foundations for the season ahead. The team looks forward to building on this momentum in the months to come.
