10 Aug July ’25 Round-Up: Sales Successes and Winning Updates
July has been a busy and rewarding month, both in the sales ring and on the racecourse. At the Tattersalls July Horses-in-Training Sale, Billy was delighted to secure three exciting new additions, while a number of past purchases continued to shine with impressive victories.
At Tattersalls, we added Ahlain, a 4-year-old daughter of Too Darn Hot, who heads to France to join the Chantilly stable of Mario Barratti. Also purchased was Channagide, who will travel to Bahrain to be trained by Fawzi Naas. Joining him there will be Grand Karat, bought on behalf of Victorious Racing, who also goes into Naas’s care. Each of these horses offers plenty of potential, and we’re looking forward to seeing them thrive in their new environments.
On the track, July produced a strong run of winners. Front Line Fury, trained by George Scott, picked up a Nursery Handicap at Haydock, showing himself to be a progressive type with more to come and backing up what had been a decisive win at Ripon in the previous month. Express Train finally began to show some of the talent that his trainer believed he had when eventually winning a Novice at Leicester, winning by a commanding 5 lengths.
Closer to home, there were a series of notable novice winners. Command The Stars backed up his win in June by winning again, this time under a penalty. Gewan got off the mark in novice company, he in particular making a smart debut at Newbury for the Kingclere team. The promising filly Forty Years On also struck in a Fillies’ Novice Stakes, highlighting her potential for the future.
In handicaps, Kisskodi, Belgravian, and Moby Quick each got their heads in front, underlining both their toughness and consistency, while Arkansas impressed when breaking her maiden at Chantilly for Mario Baratti. These victories reflect the breadth of talent among recent purchases, from unexposed novices to hard-knocking handicappers, all progressing in the right direction.
Overall, July has been a month of achievement and fresh opportunity. The new Tatts acquisitions mark exciting prospects for the future, while the recent winners provide strong evidence that the strategy of sourcing well-balanced, forward-looking horses is paying dividends. With momentum building both in Europe and overseas, there is plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.
