September ’25 Round-Up: Sales Momentum and Strong On-Track Returns

September proved to be another busy and productive month both on the racecourse and at the yearling sales, with several exciting additions to the team and a number of strong performances from our horses in training.

Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale

We were active at Tattersalls Somerville, securing a strong group of prospects with excellent pedigrees:

  • A good-looking son of Almanzor out of Olympe was purchased for 50,000 guineas and will be trained by Andrew Balding for Michael Blencowe.
  • A Sioux Nation colt out of Sea Of Reality joined George Scott’s yard after being purchased for 95,000 guineas.
  • Completing the Somerville trio was a Ten Sovereigns colt out of Snow Wind, who will go into training with Tom Clover, bought for 28,000 guineas.

Tattersalls Ireland Yearling Sale

Our team also made a number of notable acquisitions in Ireland, highlighted by a striking Starspangledbanner colt out of Broderie Anglaise, secured with George Scott for €200,000. Other purchases included:

  • Blackbeard x Kalsara – €60,000, also to be trained by George Scott for Al Rabban Racing.
  • State Of Rest x Lethal Quality – €42,000, another for George Scott.
  • Phoenix Of Spain x Penny Pulse – €48,000, also for George Scott, purchased by the original owners of Caballo De Mar, who was also by Phoenix Of Spain.
  • Invincible Spirit x Spinworthy – €120,000, to be owned by Michael Blencowe & Valmont. He will be the first horse for the partnership to be trained by Harry Eustace.

Goffs Orby Sale

At Goffs Orby, we once again targeted quality, highlighted by two exceptional yearlings by Sea The Stars, purchased with George Scott for €120,000 and €550,000 respectively. Additional purchases included:

  • Bayside Boy x Elysuim – €80,000, another for the Michael Blencowe & Valmont partnership, this time to be trained by Ralph Beckett.
  • Pinatubo x Kentucky Belle – €50,000, this colt looked particularly good value being a half-brother to Isaac Shelby, runner-up in the French 2,000 Guineas. He will be trained by Tom Clover.
  • Starspangledbanner x Light Spirit – €45,000, purchased in conjunction with Middleham Park Racing, also to go to Tom Clover.
  • Bayside Boy x Sea Of Gems – €42,000, to be trained by George Scott.
  • Churchill x Shannow – €68,000, a lovely colt set to join Andrew Balding’s yard.

On the Track

It was an excellent month for our runners, with a series of winners and strong performances across the board.

Highlights included Command The Stars Listed success in the Criterium de l’Ouest – Prix du Haras de Bouquetot, and Caballo De Mar’s fine victory in the Group 3 German St Leger, making it back-to-back German St Leger wins for JS Bloodstock purchases, following Prydwen’s success in the race in 2024.

Bay City Roller also impressed when finishing a close second to the André Fabre-trained Caulicier, who now heads to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, in the Group 2 Qatar Prix Niel.

Other winners during the month included Forty Years On, who looked mightily impressive winning a fillies’ handicap at Ascot on only her fourth start, as well as Kisskodi, Quantum Power, Brighton Boy, Penelope Valentine, and Rogue Encore, each contributing to what was a rewarding September across all levels of competition.
