October 2025 Review: Group 1 Glory and a New Generation of Talent

October is always one of the busiest months in the bloodstock calendar, but 2025 has proved to be one for the history books. From top-flight success on the international stage to a heavy investment in the future at Park Paddocks, the momentum behind JS Bloodstock has never been stronger.

On the Track: A Group 1 Triple Crown

The month was highlighted by three sensational Group 1 victories, showcasing our ability to source horses capable of winning at the highest level globally:

  • Royal Supremacy (The Metropolitan, G1): A 65,000gns Book 2 purchase for Michael Blencowe, he showed tremendous grit at Randwick to land this prestigious prize for trainer Ciaron Maher and his team.
  • Caballo De Mar (Prix du Cadran, G1): Just hours after the success in Sydney, Caballo De Mar dominated the staying division at Longchamp. A €33,000 yearling purchase, he provided trainer George Scott with a career-defining first Group 1.
  • Gewan (Dewhurst Stakes, G1): The “future star” of the month, Gewan confirmed himself as one of the best two-year-olds in training with a commanding performance in the Dewhurst at Newmarket.
  • Black Type Success: Congratulations also to the connections of Breckenbrough, who secured a valuable Listed win in the Prix Coronation at Saint-Cloud.

Other notable winners this month included Peaky Blinder (Redcar), who shaped up like a very decent stayer in the making, and Starmade (Newcastle) who was purchased for €110,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up sales for trainer Ed Dunlop and showed a huge amount of ability when breaking his maiden at only his 2nd attempt.

In the Sales Ring: Tattersalls October Yearlings

We were incredibly active throughout the month, securing a total of 24 yearlings across Books 1, 2, and 3 to join some of the UK’s leading yards.

Book 1 Highlights:
The focus was on elite pedigrees, including a Blue Point x Dancin Inthestreet colt (375,000gns) for Archie Watson and a beautiful Camelot x Lavender’s Blue filly (320,000gns) heading to Ralph Beckett. We also added yearlings by Zarak (275,000gns), Mehmas (260,000gns), and Night Of Thunder (250,000gns) to the roster for George Scott and Archie Watson.

Book 2 & 3 Highlights:
Consistency was key here, with 13 further purchases. Notable buys included a Dark Angel filly for Ralph Beckett (230,000gns) and two high-quality Blue Point fillies for Simon Crisford and Harry Charlton. We also continued our strong partnership with Michael Blencowe and Andrew Balding, securing a promising Ghaiyyath colt (160,000gns) and a Stradivarius yearling (62,000gns).

Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale

To round out the month, we turned our attention to the Autumn HIT Sale, focusing on both domestic prospects and the export market:

  • Wave Rider (420,000gns): The standout purchase of the week. This high-class son of Belardo stays with George Scott and will be targeted at the major international prizes in the Middle East.
  • Australian Exports: We secured Zain Blue (150,000gns) and Mukhtalif (325,000gns) for leading Australian trainer Ciaron Maher.
  • Blue Day (60,000gns): A sharp son of Blue Point who joins the George Scott stable.

Closing Thoughts

Seeing horses we’ve sourced win three Group 1s in a single month is what we strive for. It is a testament to the hard work of the trainers and the trust of our clients. As we move toward the end of the year, we have an incredibly exciting crop of yearlings to look forward to for 2026.
