JS Bloodstock strikes at Magic Millions

JS Bloodstock has hit the ground running in 2020 with an inaugural trip to the Magic Millions yearling sales on the Gold Coast.  Billy came away with two purchases, one for South Australian trainer Will Clarken and a second for good friend and leading Victorian training partnership David Eustace and Ciaron Maher.  Dave and Ciaron have had an impressive run of success – currently sitting second in the Victorian premiership and training at an unprecedented strike rate of 19.4%.  They scooped two races on the big Magic Millions race day including the feature 2 year old event with one of their 2019 Magic Millions graduates Away Game.  We are excited to be involved with such a forward thinking and successful team and wish them the best of luck with our purchase.  Together we bought lot 826, a strapping colt by Defcon.  This colt’s likeness to his sire was uncanny in nearly everyway – from his colour, sharp temperament and excellent physique.  Eureka stud consigned the colt and with a solid reputation for selling speedy types, we hope this guy will follow suit.

Following on from Book 1, we made an additional purchase on the Gold Coast in the shape of the Aquis bred and consigned filly lot 913 by Divine Prophet.  Like Defcon, Divine Prophet was running at the same time as Billy was working for Godolphin in Australia. He was a solid stamp of a horse that was successful in the Group 1 Caufield Guineas.  Aquis have incentivised potential purchasers by offering an attractive ‘freshman sire bonus scheme’ – offering a full refund for the purchase price of the horse should he/she win a metropolitan race before the 2021 Magic Millions sale.  Given this filly’s strong physical attributes in combination with her dam boasting black type, we would like to think she would have every chance to contend for the scheme.

We wish all connections every success and look forward to returning to the Gold Coast for the Breeding Stock sale in May this year.
