JS Bloodstock has hit the ground running in 2020 with an inaugural trip to the Magic Millions yearling sales on the Gold Coast.  Billy came away with two purchases, one for South Australian trainer Will Clarken and a second for good friend and leading Victorian training partnership David Eustace and Ciaron Maher.  Dave and Ciaron have had an impressive run of success - currently sitting second in the Victorian premiership and training at an unprecedented strike rate of 19.4%.  They scooped two races on the big Magic Millions race day including the feature 2 year old event with one of their 2019 Magic Millions graduates Away Game.  We are excited to be involved with such a forward thinking and successful team and wish them the best of luck with our purchase.  Together we bought lot 826, a strapping colt by Defcon.  This colt's likeness to his...

The yearling circus started again in August with everybody stating how quickly the year had gone and how they couldn't believe they were already back in Arqana. However there aren't many nicer places to end up back at so quickly. Having attended Arqana for the first time in 2018 I had a better idea of what to expect this year and left with 1 purchase, a beautiful filly by Lope De Vega who'll head to George Scott. Bred on the same cross as Breeders cup heroine Newspaperofrecord, this filly was a stand out for myself and George who'll she go into training with. From the stunning beaches of Normandy it was a sharp contrast to be heading to Doncaster for the next sale. JS Bloodstock in partnership with George Scott Racing secured Lot 85 on the first day of a strong session at Arqana. The filly cost 160,000 euros from leading consignors Ballylinch Stud who stand her sire Lope De Vega in Ireland. She is out of the Listed placed mare Fifth Commandment who is dam of 2 winners to date, most recently the 2-year-old Love Vega who is 1 win for 1 run in France in 2019....

JS Bloodstock will be attending all 4 days of the Arqana yearling sales in Deauville this year. Set in the picturesque grounds of Deauville Racecourse and just a stones throw from the beach, Arqana is one of the most idyllic sales in the diary and a great way to start the yearling season. There are 2 separate sales catalogues for Arqana, the first catalogue covers the main sale which is the first 3 days. Then the second catalogue, V2, covers the 4th day and is considered to more affordable sale than the blue bloods that sell during the first 3 days. Shadn, a 2 year old filly by No Nay Never, wins the Listed Rosebowl Stakes for Al Rabban Racing. Bought by JS Bloodstock as a yearling from Tattersalls Ascot. Shadn has always shown a lot of class at home with Andrew Balding. After a disappointing run at Royal Ascot she has bounced back to beat the colts in a good renewal of this competitive Listed race at Newbury. She also became the first black type winner for JS Bloodstock from our first crop of yearling purchases. Hopefully the first of many!!! Congratulations to all connections....

Dragon Command was a very impressive winner at Hamilton Racecourse. With the cheek pieces applied for the first time he jumped fast from the gates and travelled well behind the speed. He kicked on up the hill and went on to win by over 2 lengths. He looks like a smart prospect and will most likely head on to Glorious Goodwood. Congratulations to the team behind The Black Dragon Partnership, a great team of people who deserved the luck. Dragon Command was bought from Tattersalls Ireland by JS Bloodstock for  31,000 euros.   ...
